I've always wanted VoIP without jailbreaking my iPhone (I haven't jailbreak my 3.1.2 iPhone yet), so I've been looking for a similar app that does the same thing.
Luckily there's Fring, an app that allows that. And all you need is a Skype account.
Apparently, Skype won't allow for VoIP over 3G (due to some mumbo jumbo contract agreement) but looks like there's a simpler workaround.
Have yet to test personally, but will update again if it works.
