I know I know... YouTube is everybody's favourite video website right?
If you haven't noticed, Stage6, which hosted DivX quality videos, has closed down it's operation. And now, YouTube is creating a better video streaming website than ever before!
To do that, you'll need to append &fmt=6 for better quality. If you're lucky, append &fmt=18 to get a mp4 version, with the best quality.
Here's an example:
Normal Version:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=njGppxBBb7E
Slightly better picture quality:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=njGppxBBb7E&fmt=6
MP4 version, with the best audio quality:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=njGppxBBb7E&fmt=18
Seeing is believing.
However, it seems that not all videos can be converted to high quality, so don't blame me!
If you are a blogger, and you want to embed HD version of the videos in your site, you'll need to append &ap=%2526fmt%3D18 to your 2 instances of the video links in your embed.
Here's an example:
The Unedited Version
The Edited Version (I bold/italic and colored it red for you)
I can foresee, in the next 2 or 3 years, all the videos in YouTube will be in HD quality! (sarcastic laugh) Well, we can only pray for the better.
So now, go and enjoy your favourite videos!
Enjoy this clip from my favourite band (I embed it with HD quality! Sorry slow connection peeps!)
